Article title: What is your life testimony?
Written by: Pastor Samson Shahzad
A question echoes through every gathering of believers: “What is your testimony?” or What is your life testimony? We search our memories for the dramatic moment the crisis was resolved, the prayer answered. I am not saying anything wrong here; nothing is wrong with that either. Scripture itself is full of such retellings, as when the Apostle Paul recounts his Damascus road encounter before kings and councils. But testimony is not only found in the extraordinary. It is not a single chapter we close and then move past; I assume it is the entire book, written daily by a God who never stops authoring our story. Isn’t that beautiful? As I zoom in on my life, the foundation layer gives me a clear answer:
Foundational part through redemption, not reformation: this conviction rests on doctrine, not sentiments: the doctrine of redemption. Prophet Isaiah records the Lord’s tender declaration:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)
As a Bible believer, for me, being redeemed means being purchased. And the Apostle Paul makes this explicit: “You were bought at a price” (1 Corinthians 6:20). The price was the precious blood of Christ. This is the hinge on which Christian testimony turns, and when I look in the mirror each day, my inner self answers: I am no longer my own. The Apostle Paul draws out the consequence:
“Christ’s love compels us… He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:14–15)
If I belong wholly to Christ, then every moment lived in that belonging testifies to Him. The story does not stop here; the doctrine of providence opens another chapter in my life and teaches me that God does not merely intervene occasionally but continually sustains and cares for His creation.
The best example comes from our Lord Jesus Christ’s statements: “Look at the birds of the air… your heavenly Father feeds them” (Matthew 6:26). Under this doctrine, the meal I eat is provision; the health I enjoy is grace sustained moment by moment; the fellowship shared with family and friends is a means through which God reveals His faithfulness; and, closing His extraordinary grace section through ordinary providence, the book of Lamentations from the Old Testament demonstrates His compassions.
“His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22–23)
So when asked, “What is your testimony?” the simple answer is this : I no longer search only for one dramatic moment. My testimony began the day He redeemed me, and it has not stopped since. Written in every sunrise, every meal, every relationship, and every up and down of my life, I do not own my testimony; I live inside His. As Isaiah 43:1 declares, I have been summoned by name. Until He calls me home, my every day remains a day of testimony.
