Matthew and Ellen Tyler – Serving with CMS in Vanuatu.

Wingham Baptist Church supports Matthew and Ellen Tyler and their children, Tom, Beth, and Harry, who are serving the Lord with the Church Missionary Society in partnership with SIL and Vanuatu Bible Translators.  Although Christianity is far-reaching in Vanuatu, the gospel has not penetrated deeply into the hearts of local believers – many do not have the Bible in their heart language.

Matt and Ellen are partnering with local Christians in translating the Bible into one of Vanuatu’s many minority languages, Daakaka, on the island of Ambrym.  They live alongside the villagers, training local believers in understanding the Bible and discipling them to apply God’s word to their lives.

Bible translation is a long, slow process and is challenging in Vanuatu in the face of spiritual, logistical, and health issues.  Matt and Ellen are grateful for many people who are partnering with them prayerfully and financially on their overseas missionary journey.
